Speed Racing

So this weeks Playr and Playr Guide got me thinking about driving games.

With every computer and game console I’ve owned I’ve had a driving game or three. From Burnin’ Rubber on the C64, Road Rash on the Mega Drive and Motorstorm 2 on the PS3. In fact Burnout Paradise was the specific game that made me want a 360.

While I’ve got a lot of time for FPS’s, platformers and action games I don’t think there is anything quite like speeding down a track at stupid miles per hour.… Continue

"Blogger of The Month" Announced

Yes, after much careful consideration we've finally tossed a coin to decide who is January's "Blogger of the Month". And the winner is... the very expressive Allan Wood.

Yes, he's kept us amused with his musings on a range of subjects from 3D Games, to Avatar and the evolution of controllers. Hey, they were more interesting than they sound, honest, mum!

Gremlins Ate Our Leaderboard

We've got Gizmo and co. in at the mo, which means the leaderboard doesn't reflect the latest points awarded below.

Aaron Roberts 200pts
Allan Wood 1000 pts
Tom C 800 pts

So top of the leaderboard should read...

Sean Russell 11,200
Gregory Ambrose 5,400
Allan Wood 5,100
Tom C 3,500

Hopefully the problem will be rectified v.soon.

Over the next year I think that the following games will cause controversie

Heavy rain for to graphic nature

God of war for promoting violence (like where are you going to get the chains of olympus anyway)

Dante inferno for being a duplicate of the game above

Movie tie in games for being crap

Mag for breaking the psn network

Fallout new vegas because it not called Fallout 4

Time

other the years as games have progressed the graphics and sound have become better but the time of completing has seen to have taken less. i rember such games as oddworld, crash bandicoot and heart of darkness which for me took ages to comlete, however recently picking up darksiders and bayonetta i manged ti complete both in under 9 hours on the normal difficulty setting and to spend £80 for 18 hours worth of gaming seems to be poor in my opinion.

Ban Computer Games!

Okay, now that I’ve got your attention lets discuss the medias attitude to computer games.

I have just read this article:

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20100125/tsc-oukoe-uk-italy-stabbing-1df2b7e.html

A 16 year old stabbed his own father in the neck over a game of FIFA 2009 – it’s a horrible story and highlights how mindless some people can be.

What is unusual… Continue

Looking Back, Part 4, CoD 4

Those of you who follow this series will remember that the first Looking Back was focused on Modern Warfare 2, i found it good but not enough, so this part will be dedicated to it's predecessor. Call Of Duty 4.

Single Player: Set in the not too distant future CoD 4 follows 'Soap' Mactavish (and some American guy who nobody likes) attempting to keep peace by discovering what nuclear device was doing on a cargo ship. Along the way theres alot of action, including… Continue
