Hand-held Console War: Your Thoughts

It's the successor to the most successful gaming console ever. It want to revolutionize the way we play by introducing 3D without glasses. But can the 3DS really emulate the DS and dominate the mobile gaming scene? Will Sony's much more powerful NGP be its biggest rival or will smartphones like the iPhone 4 take a big bite of the hand-held market this time a round? Tell us what you think?

I was fairly impressed when I played the 3DS in Amsterdam, mines on preorder! Looking forward to hearing more on the NGP.

Which games did you get to play?

Zelda, PES, Kid Icarus, Steel Divers, Resident Evil Mercs, Street Fighter, AR Games, Ridge Racer, Dinosaurs 3D. I saw some of the Eurosports stuff In action too, although it wasn't particularly impressive.

The games were impressive, but not 100% convinced I'll be playing them in 3D. Found myself turning the 3D slider down to 2D after checking out the depth effects.

I must admit, I do still have my concerns about the side effects. PES nearly sent me crossed eyed at first!

I think the 3DS will triumph as it has the best game line up and the biggest fanbase. the 3DS will maybe even dominate console sales like the 360.

The 3DS looks to be the more technologically impressive as well add the awesome games into the mix and nothing can beat the winning formula.

will games for the 3ds (mario kart 3d) work on a normal ds?

A LOT of hype about the 3DS, Not too bothered myself, the extra power and features are cool but it's MAIN feature, as in the reason it was made and people would buy it, is 3D (Obviously) but as stated by PlayR in their preview it has a fair few faults and has anyone heard about the safety notices?

 

"Do not allow anyone under the age of 6 to use in 3D Mode"- That's half of Nintendo's fanbase gone, still theres the other half right? Well...

 

"Do not use 3D mode for any longer than 30 minutes"- Right, so you can only have it in 3D for a little bit before it burns your eyes out, I'm pretty sure that's a problem.

 

So without the 3D I don't see the point of it, the releases for it all appear to be games for kids/grannies and the rest are remakes which pray on sentimentality, so why not just wait for the NGP to be released, a LOT of hype for that as well but at least it won't blind you!
